Designed to provide students with fresh, health, food options while simultaneously motivating them to stay on track in their classes and be mindful of their health​

Project Brief

For my senior thesis in my industrial design college career, we were given creative freedom to design what we wanted. The only guidelines were to use all of the skills we learned over the years:

  • Design research

  • Mockups (physical & digital)

  • Sketching

  • Adobe Creative Suite programs

  • 3D modeling & rendering

  • Understanding of UI/UX

  • Graphic Design

FRESH FOOD ALL OVER CAMPUS

How research insights informed design:

On college campuses, vending machines are everywhere— perfect for students on the go or those spending log stretches without cafeteria access. However, I noticed a few gaps:

  • Most machines offered only snacks with low nutritional value (chips, candy, pop tarts, sugary sodas, etc.)

  • All machines were traditional cash/card setups with no added incentives or engagement for frequent users

With these insights, I designed Fresh Fridge to:

  • Provide healthy, affordable food options for students

  • Include a free smartphone app showing campus locations

  • Offer rewards and challenges to encourage healthier choices and support overall student well-being.

​

The project combined product design with user experience to make healthy choices accessible, engaging,

and fun.
